Batala Lancaster help to launch RNLI’s new lifeboat

On 26 September we were delighted to support our the RNLI as our nominated charity for 2021 by playing at the naming ceremony for their new boat D-855 “Brenda Raworth”, including drumming her into the water down the slipway!

The ceremony included a speech by The Bay actor Daniel Ryan and performances from the Mitzzen Singers before the boat launch.

£200.29 was raised in a bucket collection on the day. Combined with the collection and online donations from our recent Morecambe busk, this makes a total of £961.53 raised so far this year for the RNLI from our charity gigs.

Chairman of the Lifeboat Management Group, Martyn Browitt said: “Thank you so much for your drumming at the Naming Ceremony, it really made a huge difference.”

We will be busking for the RNLI once again on 13 October, this time in Market Square, Lancaster.
